The meeting opened with the Serenity Prayer at 7:00 PM September 13, 2005 with the following groups represented: St. Paul, Midway, Wed. 6:30 pm Al-Anon; St. Paul, Uptown, Tues. 11:00 am St. Paul, Uptown, Tues. 6:30 pm B White Bear Lake Wed. am Al-Anon, St. Stephen’s Church; White Bear Lake Tues. pm Al-Anon, St. Stephen’s Church; Mahtomedi Fri. pm Al-Anon, St. Andrew’s Church; Redeemer Al-Anon, Tues. pm, South St. Paul; South St. Paul, Redeemer, Tues. pm
Prior to passing the The Seventh Tradition basket, it was suggested that, since use of the meeting room was now included in the office rent, we could dispense with passing the basket. It was suggested this was OK since groups already are supporting Intergroup. A motion was made to that effect and passed unanimously.
Concept Nine: Good personal leadership at all service levels is a necessity. In the field of world service the Board of Trustees assumes the primary leadership.
Minutes:The minutes for August 2005 were read and were accepted with the following correction:
With respect to selling literature at Founders Day, we have not been invited.
Treasurer’s Report: This had been incorrectly printed so approval was tabled until October.
Fellowship Weekend: The room that was used smelled very much of smoke. The rooms were very poorly arranged for mingling or moving around. The location of the room was not conducive to being hospitable. We will pass on our thoughts to the committee that organized the event. Pizzas from Papa John’s and submarine sandwiches from Cub Foods were brought in for our part of the meals. Fellowship meetings were small. Someone suggest that an idea for future events would be to use a progressive meal event to help encourage people to mingle. It was also suggested that more non-meat items be available for persons. The literature chair stayed in the room that was used for the event. The donation buckets raised $50.00. A good time was had by all overall.
Central Methodist Church’s Central Fest: Only about $17.00 of literature was sold. Not as much literature needs to be taken if we go next time.
Gratitude Night: The door prizes will be two books and two new Blueprints for Progress and one subscription to the Forum and possibly an Alateen book. At the next meeting we will decide how we work the prizes. Set-up for the event will take place from 4:30 pm Friday evening. Volunteers will be needed to help set-up. Volunteers will be needed as greeters and name tags. We may pay the babysitters for their time. We will need an adult (with an Alateen Sponsor clearance) to help the teens babysitting. We will need about 3 teens. We may be paying about $15.00 per person.
Officer nominations: The positions of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer will need to be filled by January 2006. Anyone wishing to be nominated needs to notify their groups. In November nominations will be taken and voted on in December. New officers need to be active in Intergroup and Al-anon.
Newsletter Survey: Some comments from the survey that have been received so far are suggest that our listing in the building directory needs to be changed from St. Paul Al-Anon/Alateen Intergroup Office to Al-Anon/Alateen Intergroup Office. Office volunteers need to notify any persons calling in about available parking.
Literature: No report.
Office manager: No report.
Alateen: The Alateen Midlake Conference in May 2006 is being hosted by Minnesota groups. Donations are needed to help pay for the teens going to this event. Teens are encouraged to do many different kinds of fundraising for this event. A mailing list is needed. For much of the information needed regarding this event, the area Alateen coordinator should be contacted.
Teens are supposed to be planning, coordinating and fundraising for this event. The sponsors helping coordinate it have said that the teens must take over this event or it may be cancelled. Nurses are needed to be available at this event. Nurses must go through the Alateen Sponsorship clearance. There needs to be about one Sponsor per four teens at this event.
The event will being held at Devils Head Resort in Miramac, WI on May 19-21, 2006. The next meeting to help prepare this event is 24 Sept at 12:00 at the Maplewood Alano.
Office Volunteers: More persons are needed to work at the office. Too many days when no one is in the office are remaining open each month.
Directory: The assistant directory chair spent some time with the new chair. Because there is need for software license transfer, he has not been able to install the software used.
A new directory was printed in time for Fellowship Weekend. It is in a different format because it was less expensive and faster have printed.
